Two All-Stars hit the injured list on May 9, as Hunter Greene (Reds) and Andres Gimenez (Blue Jays) will be out for the interim. Meanwhile, in Kansas City, a shoulder problem temporarily shut down Kyle Wright.

Gimenez & Greene placed on injured list

Yesterday, we provided updates on Hunter Greene and Andres Gimenez. May 9 brought more news regarding the two.

Greene was placed on the injured list with a right groin strain, retroactive to May 8. The move was expected, as the Reds’ brass hinted at it on the 8th.

As for Gimenez, the Blue Jays infielder landed on the injured list with a right quad strain.

Wright taken off rehab assignment

After two Minor League starts, Kyle Wright has been taken off his rehab assignment.

The 29-year-old told reporters he was dealing with shoulder fatigue, which led to a velocity drop. Kansas City stated on social media that the team plans to have him skip one or two starts before restarting his assignment.

Wright has yet to pitch for the Royals at the Major League level. The right-hander was acquired in November 2023 from the Braves but missed all of 2024 after surgery to repair a torn capsule in his right shoulder.

Rehab assignments

The White Sox had two players rehab with Charlotte (AAA) on May 9. Gage Workman went 1-4 with three strikeouts and played the whole game. Catcher Korey Lee went 1-2 with a walk before giving way for Kyle Teel.
