The Rangers just got Wyatt Langford back from the injured list but now have to deal with another notable injury. Corey Seager, who missed the last bit of 2024 with hip trouble, is back on the injured list. Additionally, the baseball world received updates on hurlers Blake Snell & Grayson Rodriguez.
Snell shut down
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Blake Snell has been shut down for the time being, after the left-hander didn’t feel right after his last catch session earlier in the week. Snell will be looked at again once the team returns to Los Angeles.
Snell was placed on the injured list on April 6 with left shoulder inflammation. The left-hander, who signed with Los Angeles this past winter, struck out just four over his first nine innings as a Dodger.
Seager hits injured list
The Rangers received both good and bad news on the injury front (more on the good in a minute).
Shortstop Corey Seager, who was removed from Texas’ game on April 22, was placed on the injured list with a right hamstring strain.
The team believes it’ll be a short stint on the injured list for Seager.
In other related news, the Rangers believe Jack Leiter, who’s coming back from a blister issue, should be able to come back next week.
Grayson dealing with lat strain
The Orioles confirmed Grayson Rodriguez, who had imaging done on his shoulder last week, has a mild right lat strain.
Baltimore will hope he can resume throwing in a few weeks, pushing back his timeline.
Other injury news
The Athletics placed Jose Leclerc on the 10-day IL with a right lat strain.
Willi Castro (oblique) and Brendan Donovan (rib) missed their teams’ respective games again on April 23. Castro hasn’t played in a week, while Donovan missed his second straight game.
Pablo Lopez is expected to return for the Twins this coming weekend against the Angels.
The Orioles had Trevor Rogers make a rehab start with Chesapeake (AA) on April 23. Rogers struck out three over three innings for the Baysox. The left-hander tossed 44 pitches.
