The Mets’ rotation has been stable for much of 2025, despite being without Sean Manaea and Frankie Montas. But while those two are on the way back, Kodai Senga will temporarily join them on the IL. A hamstring strain suffered on June 12 will see him out of action in the interim.

Senga headed to IL

The Mets confirmed Kodai Senga, who left his start on June 12, will require an IL stint for a hamstring injury sustained during the team’s game against the Nationals.

Senga hurt himself catching a high toss from first baseman Pete Alonso. The right-hander caught it but grabbed his right hamstring nearly immediately after he came off the base.

The injury ended a strong start, one that saw Senga toss 5.2 scoreless frames.

Ragans to get second opinion

The Royals still don’t know how long Cole Ragans, who was placed on the injured list yesterday, will be out.

Ragans will undergo a second opinion on his shoulder next week, and that’ll determine how long the left-hander will be kept from throwing. Manager Matt Quatraro believes he won’t need surgery but nonetheless, will likely be shut down for some time.

As noted on June 11, this is the second time Ragans is on the IL this season.

Misiorowski exits MLB debut

Jacob Misiorowski showed why he is among MLB’s best pitching prospects on June 12, his MLB debut. However, it didn’t end on a positive note.

During the sixth inning, Misiorowski got his ankle caught while backing up towards the pitching rubber after throwing a pitch to Victor Scott II. The injury was significant enough for him to exit.

Other injury news

Cardinals infielder Brendan Donovan (toe) missed his second straight game on June 12.

Brandon Woodruff was shifted to the 60-day IL on June 12, to make room on the 40-man roster for Misiorowski.

Jackson Jobe, done for 2025 thanks to season-ending elbow surgery, was also transferred to the 60-day IL.
