March 25 was a lighter day on the 2026 college baseball schedule, as many of the top schools were off. However, some played and did very well. Oregon swept its way through San Diego, while the Sun Devils notched another win before a pivotal in-conference series. However, ASU’s Big 12 rival, Kansas, was not as fortunate.
Sacramento State upsets Kansas
Sacramento State defeated Big 12 school Kansas 7-4 on March 25, giving the Hornets another upset victory despite what has been a 10-16 start to the 2026 campaign.
Outfielder Erick Dessens was all over this game, as he picked up four hits and seven total bases.
Kansas outfielder Brady Ballinger, considered a notable MLB Draft prospect for 2026, went 0-5 with four strikeouts. The Jayhawks’ bullpen couldn’t keep the door shut, as six of the seven runs allowed came from the sixth inning onward.
Sacramento State continues its trend of picking up upsets. Earlier this season, the Hornets took two of three from LSU at Baton Rouge.
