Braves outfielder Michael Harris II was removed from the team’s game on April 23 due to quad tightness.

The team indicated on social media that it was due to precautionary reasons.

Anthony looking to play on 24th

Roman Anthony missed his second consecutive game on April 23 as a nagging back injury forced him to sit out.

Anthony told the media after the game that he hopes to play on April 24 against the Orioles (h/t Boston Herald).

IL placements

The Mets placed Francisco Lindor on the 10-day IL with a calf strain, one day after he was removed from the team’s contest against the Twins. Per manager Carlos Mendoza, Lindor is expected to be out longer than Juan Soto, who also suffered a calf injury earlier this month.

Orioles pitcher Dean Kremer was placed on the IL with a right quad strain.

The Rangers placed reliever Robert Garcia on the 15-day IL with shoulder inflammation.

Braves pitcher Dylan Dodd was placed on the 15-day IL with left thoracic spine inflammation.

Rehab assignments

Yankees pitcher Gerrit Cole struck out four over 4.2 IP (52 pitches) for High-A Hudson Valley. His fastballs sat in the mid-90s.

Nate Pearson walked four and struck out three over two innings (53 pitches) across two innings for Triple-A Sugar Land. Pearson averaged 96 MPH on his fastball.

Rangers reliever Carter Baumler gave up two hits and one earned run for Triple-A Round Rock.

Other notes

Cubs pitcher Caleb Thielbar was removed from his team’s game due to left hamstring tightness.

Red Sox pitcher Sonny Gray had an MRI on his hamstring, and it did not reveal anything serious, per manager Alex Cora (h/t Boston Herald).

Rockies infielder Willi Castro was removed from the game on April 23 due to knee soreness.
