Aside from a hiccup earlier in the year, it’s been a mostly healthy season for Shane McClanahan in 2026. However, the Rays left-hander went back on the IL with a forearm injury on September 4. Also in the news, there were some updates on two Yankees outfielders.

Judge taking BP

In a very promising sign, Aaron Judge was on the field at Petco Park taking batting practice.

Per the club, Judge won’t face live pitching until the club returns next week for a homestand with the Rockies and Mets (h/t MLB.com). The belief over the past few days has been that Judge will look to return sometime during that homestand

Grisham leaves versus Padres

Yankees outfielder Trent Grisham left the game on September 4 with right hamstring discomfort.

While fielding a ball in center field, Grisham came up dragging his leg on a ball that wound up landing in front of him in the second inning.

Ohtani out again

Dodgers TWP Shohei Ohtani was out again on September 4 with lingering bicep and knee soreness.

Yet again, Dave Roberts did not rule out a possible IL stint for Ohtani.

IL moves

Rays pitcher Shane McClanahan was placed on the injured list with forearm tightness. McClanahan indicated that he hopes to be back again this season. Additionally, reliever Manuel Rodriguez landed on the IL with a low back strain.

Astros pitcher Steven Okert was placed on the 15-day IL with a right hamstring strain.

The Guardians placed reliever Colin Holderman on the 15-day IL with right wrist inflammation.

Michael Toglia (shoulder dislocation) and Jesus Rodriguez (elbow neuritis) were moved to the 60-day IL.

Other notes

Rockies infielder Willi Castro was out for the third straight day for Colorado. Castro is dealing with plantar fasciitis (h/t Denver Gazette).

Guardians outfielder Chase DeLauter left the club’s second game on September 4 with a wrist sprain.

Kyle Stowers (hamstring) remained out on the 4th.
