The Yankees have been without Aaron Judge for over two months to this point. And while he isn’t close to a return yet, Judge did make a step forward when he was able to get the clearance to start throwing. As for the Blue Jays, fighting for a playoff spot, the club will be without Vladimir Guerrero Jr. for at least a week.

Judge throwing

Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge was cleared to throw a baseball and did so on August 14. It’s a notable step forward, although a small one, as Judge recovers from a rib fracture.

Manager Aaron Boone indicated that Judge could be cleared for a return in a month.

Turner exits

Phillies shortstop Trea Turner was removed with a knee injury on August 15.

During the fifth inning of the club’s game versus the Twins. Turner fouled a ball off his right knee, prompting his removal.

IL moves

One day after being removed from the game after a blow to the head, Blue Jays infielder Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was placed on the 7-day IL with a concussion.

Angels catcher Sebastian Rivero (hamate fracture) was transferred to the 60-day IL.

Rehab assignments

The Cubs had two relievers with Triple-A Iowa. Hoby Milner allowed three hits and two earned runs over 0.2 IP, while Shelby Miller allowed two hits and one run over an inning.

Rangers catcher Danny Jansen went 1-for-3 with Triple-A Round Rock.

Pirates outfielder Oneil Cruz went 1-for-5 for Double-A Altoona.

Angels pitcher Yusei Kikuchi struck out eight over 4.2 IP for Low-A Rancho Cucamonga. However, Kikuchi allowed seven hits and eight earned runs.

Other notes

Giants pitcher Logan Webb was removed on August 15 with back & shoulder tightness.
