It’s been a tough couple of weeks for the Toronto Blue Jays. Injuries have stacked up, and now the defending AL champions have to contend with another one, this time to George Springer. A freak injury at the plate led to Springer suffering a toe fracture during the second game of Toronto’s series versus the Twins.

Langford out on April 11

Rangers outfielder Wyatt Langford did not start on April 11, as he deals with a quadriceps injury.

Per the Dallas Morning News, testing revealed a small quad strain.

Springer fractured toe

Blue Jays outfielder George Springer suffered a left big toe fracture on April 11.

During the third inning of the Twins-Blue Jays game on April 11, Springer fouled a pitch from Joe Ryan off his toe, which resulted in a fracture.

IL placements

The Rays placed pitcher Joe Boyle on the 15-day UL with a right elbow strain.

Orioles catcher Adley Rutschman landed on the injured list with left ankle inflammation.

Cody Laweryson (right forearm strain) and Royce Lewis (left knee sprain) were placed on the IL.

Rehab assignments

Orioles infielder Jackson Holliday went 1-3 for Triple-A Norfolk.

Red Sox pitcher Kutter Crawford struck out five over three innings for Triple-A Worcester. However, he gave up three home runs to Triple-A Columbus, one to Nolan Jones and two to Kahlil Watson.

Astros reliever Bennett Sousa struck out two over one scoreless inning for Triple-A Sugar Land.

Other notes

Giants infielder Luis Arraez suffered a right wrist contusion after he was kicked by Dylan Beavers while the former was attempting to make a throw and was caught in the running lane to second (h/t San Francisco Chronicle).

Cardinals infielder Masyn Winn (leg) did not play on April 11.

Mariners infielder Brendan Donovan (illness) missed another game on April 11.

Astros shortstop Jeremy Pena was removed from the team’s game on the 11th with right posterior knee tightness.

Braves reliever Danny Young (UCL reconstruction) was transferred to the 60-day IL.
