Thanks to injuries and the need for fresh arms, several teams made notable MLB promotions on April 11. Craig Kimbrel, who was pitching in the Mets’ Minor League system, added another big league club to his list of teams he has pitched for. Additionally, the Twins called up pitching prospect Andrew Morris.

Mets add Kimbrel to bullpen

The Mets promoted Craig Kimbrel to freshen up the bullpen. In a corresponding move, Richard Lovelady was designated for assignment.

Kimbrel tossed a scoreless inning and struck out two in his New York debut. The Mets also became the 10th team that he played for in his lengthy Major League career.

Morris promoted to Twins

The Twins promoted prospect Andrew Morris to the Majors on April 11. Whenever he gets into a game, Morris will make his MLB debut.

Morris, a right-hander, was protected from the Rule 5 Draft this past November. He entered 2025 as one of the best pitching prospects in the system. But as we noted in our Twins farm review for 2025, his numbers took a tumble in Triple-A last season.

Cutty mid-90s four-seamer, along with a cut-slider, sweeper, mid-80s changeup, two-seamer, and a slow, low-70s curveball for Morris.

Additionally, the Twins promoted Ryan Kreidler from Triple-A St. Paul. Both were corresponding moves for Cody Laweryson and Royce Lewis, both of whom were placed on the injured list.

Other promotions

Luke Williams (Braves) and Maverick Handley (Orioles) had their contracts selected from Triple-A.

Houston recalled pitcher Jayden Murray from Triple-A Sugar Land.

Other news

The Tigers claimed pitcher Grant Holman from the Dodgers. He was optioned to the FCL in a corresponding move.

Chayce McDermott (Orioles) and Jeimer Candelario (Angels) were designated for assignment.

Daysbel Hernandez (Braves) and J.P. France (Astros) were optioned to Triple-A.
