There hasn’t been much that’s stopped Munetaka Murakami over the first two months of 2026. But on May 29, a hamstring injury did, and it will force the Japanese slugger to go on the injured list.

Murakami headed to IL

White Sox infielder Munetaka Murakami will head to the IL for the first time in his MLB career.

Murakami left the game on May 29 with what was described as right hamstring tightness. After the game, Will Venable indicated that he will go on the injured list with a hamstring strain.

Perez likely out for two months

We have some clarity on Marlins pitcher Eury Perez, who was removed from his start a couple of days earlier. It’s not great news, as Perez was placed on the IL with a right gracilis strain.

He’s expected to miss roughly eight weeks (h/t Miami Herald).

Holliday like done for 2026

In some Minor League news, Ethan Holliday is done for 2026.

The Rockies prospect and 2025 first-round pick suffered a stress fracture in his left foot and will require surgery (h/t MLB.com).

IL moves

One day after he was scratched from his scheduled start, Twins pitcher Kendry Rojas was placed on the 15-day IL with left elbow inflammation.

Teoscar Hernandez, as expected, landed on the IL with a left hamstring strain.

Tigers pitcher Casey Mize was placed on the IL with right adductor inflammation.

Giants pitcher Tyler Mahle was put on the injured list with a left hamstring strain.

Jordan Leasure of the White Sox went on the injured list with a right flexor strain.

Reds reliever Graham Ashcraft was placed on the injured list with a right forearm UCL sprain.

Blake Snell (loose bodies), Gabriel Arias (hamstring strain), and Brant Hurter (lumbar spine inflammation) were transferred to the 60-day IL.

Rehab assignments

Astros ace Hunter Brown struck out five over three innings (44 pitches) for Triple-A Sugar Land. He averaged 98 MPH and topped out at 99 MPH.

Brewers reliever Jared Koenig went one inning for Triple-A Nashville. He topped out at 95 MPH.

Other news

A’s pitcher Luis Severino was removed on May 29 due to a sore right arm.

Cal Raleigh has been swinging in batting cages as he ramps up his recovery (h/t Seattle Times).
