The Mariners, Yankees, and Dodgers were without at least one notable player each on April 26. And in the Yankees’ case, a decision on Giancarlo Stanton is looming. Plus, Nick Lodolo and Spencer Strider were among the notables to partake in rehab assignments.
Multiple Dodgers missing from lineup
The Dodgers were without Will Smith again on April 26. Smith, who didn’t play on the 25th, has been sitting on the bench thanks to back tightness.
Max Muncy, who was removed from the Dodgers’ game on the 25th, also did not play against the Cubs. However, that was planned, as the team was facing a left-hander (h/t California Post).
Naylor out
Mariners first baseman Josh Naylor did not play on April 26 after he picked up two hits the day before. Naylor was dealing with a bruised quad.
It’s not believed to be a significant issue, per manager Dan Wilson.
Stanton misses another game
The Yankees were without Giancarlo Stanton again on April 26. Stanton has been out due to a calf injury over the last two days.
Manager Aaron Boone indicated to the media that a decision on whether to place Stanton on the IL should come soon. That is notable, especially since multiple reports also indicated that Jasson Dominguez will rejoin the team from Triple-A.
IL placements
Guardians pitcher Shawn Armstrong was placed on the 15-day IL with a right groin strain.
Angels catcher Logan O’Hoppe hit the injured list with a left wrist fracture.
Cubs reliever Riley Martin was placed on the 15-day injured list with left elbow inflammation.
The Tigers placed Connor Seabold on the 15-day IL with left ankle inflammation.
Rehab assignments
The Braves had two rehabbers with Triple-A Gwinnett. Sean Murphy went 3-4 with two RBI for the Stripers, while Spencer Strider struck out seven over five innings (82 pitches).
Strider averaged 95 MPH, on par with his 2025 average.
Reds pitcher Nick Lodolo struck out seven over five innings (51 pitches) for High-A Dayton. Lodolo, coming back from a blister issue, sat 92-94 MPH and posted a swing-and-miss rate of 45.5%.
Yankees shortstop Anthony Volpe went 2-4 with two RBI for Triple-A Scranton.
Astros pitcher Cody Bolton gave up two hits and one run over two innings with Triple-A Sugar Land.
Other notes
Geraldo Perdomo (ankle) did not play on the 26th.
Royals third baseman Maikel Garcia (elbow) did not start on April 26 but did come into the team’s game against the Angels off the bench. He went 0-1.
Jose Trevino and Brent Rooker were activated off the injured list.
