The Dodgers have been without Shohei Ohtani these past few days thanks to nagging bicep and knee problems. However, he should be back in the club’s lineup sooner rather than later.
Ohtani to return this week
Dodgers TWP Shohei Ohtani was out of the club’s starting lineup against the Nationals. However, his absence should not last much longer.
Manager Dave Roberts noted that Ohtani should return to the lineup on the 7th versus the Cincinnati Reds.
Perdomo suffers head injury
Diamondbacks shortstop Geraldo Perdomo bizarrely suffered a head injury on September 6. Perdomo was struck by a line drive hit from Ketel Marte while the former was running the bases in the third inning.
Perdomo was diagnosed with a head contusion and is not in concussion protocol.
IL moves
Orioles outfielder Luis Robert Jr. is on the injured list, as he was placed there on September 6 with left hamstring discomfort.
The Red Sox placed outfielder Ceddanne Rafaela on the 10-day IL with a right quadriceps strain.
Dodgers catcher Dalton Rushing was placed back on the 10-day IL with right elbow discomfort.
The White Sox placed outfielder Tommy Pham on the 10-day IL with a left calf strain.
Matt Vierling (Tigers), Nick Davila (Mariners), and Mike Burrows (Astros) were transferred to the 60-day IL.
Rehab assignments
Rangers catcher Kyle Higashioka went 1-for-3 with a walk and a strikeout for Triple-A Round Rock.
Tigers pitcher Jack Flaherty struck out two over 1.1 IP (19 pitches) for Triple-A Toledo. Flaherty averaged 92 MPH and topped out at 93 MPH.
Dodgers pitcher Edwin Diaz struck out one and walked one over one inning. Diaz averaged 96 MPH and topped out at 97 MPH.
Additionally, Kris Bubic pitched in that game. Bubic struck out one over a scoreless frame.
Other notes
Royals 1B/OF Jac Caglianone is dealing with a Grade 1 flexor strain in his elbow, per manager Matt Quatraro.
Ian Happ (knee) and Chase DeLauter (wrist) were not in their clubs’ starting lineups.
