April 21 featured the first Yankees-Red Sox game of 2026, ultimately won by the team from New York. As for the other team in New York, the Mets are still looking for something not seen from the team in two weeks: a win.
Highlights from April 21
The Mets lost their 12th-straight game on April 21 despite a 10-strikeout performance from Nolan McLean (29.5% Whiff%). Byron Buxton hit a two-run shot off the right-hander, and the Twins were able to chip away and eventually take the lead off Devin Williams in the ninth.
New York is now the worst team in MLB from a record standpoint, as Kansas City defeated the Orioles.
The Yankees shut out Boston 4-0. Luis Gil only had four swings-and-misses on the night but Boston only had two hits off the right-hander. Giancarlo Stanton hit his second home run of 2026 off Connelly Early.
Chase Burns struck out eight and the Reds hit five home runs off the Rays for a 12-6 victory. Elly De La Cruz had two home runs in the victory.
The Blue Jays defeated the Angels 4-2, and Louis Varland notched the save for Toronto. That is notable, given the early-season struggles of Jeff Hoffman.
Landen Roupp (32.4% Whiff%) outdueled Yoshinobu Yamamoto in a 3-1 victory for the Giants.
