Raisel Iglesias & Sonny Gray were among the players who landed on the IL on April 21. Additionally, two players in Arlington were removed from their respective games early, part of our look at injury-related notes from the day.
Langford removed from game
Rangers outfielder Wyatt Langford was removed from the team’s game on April 21 due to forearm tightness.
It’s the second time that Langford has dealt with an injury this month. Earlier in April, he missed time due to a quad strain.
He also wasn’t the only player to need to leave the Pirates-Rangers game due to injury. Brandon Lowe of the Pirates left thanks to left knee discomfort.
Iglesias on IL
The Braves placed Raisel Iglesias on the 15-day IL with right shoulder inflammation.
Iglesias was unavailable earlier this weekend in a game against the Phillies, an absence that didn’t last long. The right-hander picked up a save just two days ago but now finds himself on the IL.
An MRI didn’t reveal any structural damage (h/t AJC).
Gray hits injured list
Sonny Gray was placed on the IL with a hamstring strain.
That news comes one day after he was removed from a start against the Tigers.
Other IL movement
Giants catcher Daniel Susac went on the IL with right elbow ulnar neuritis. Additionally, San Francisco transferred Jose Butto to the 60-day IL.
The Astros placed outfielder Taylor Trammell on the 10-day IL with a left groin strain.
Adley Rutschman (Orioles) and Royce Lewis (Twins) were activated off the IL.
Rehab assignments
Braves pitcher Spencer Strider struck out eight over 4.1 IP (65 pitches) for Triple-A Gwinnett on the 21st. Strider averaged 96 MPH on the heater.
Sean Murphy also played for the Stripers, and he went 0-3. Interestingly enough, in that game, no Gwinnett player got a hit, as the team was no-hit by Braxton Garrett — a game that the Braves’ affiliate still won 2-0.
Christopher Morel went 0-3 with three strikeouts for Triple-A Jacksonville.
Yankees infielder Anthony Volpe went 2-4 with a home run for Triple-A Scranton.
Orioles infielder Jackson Holliday resumed his rehab assignment but that was cut short. Holliday left that game early, and per reports, is dealing with right-hand discomfort (h/t Baltimore Sun).
Other notes
Juan Soto (calf) will be activated from the injured list on April 22.
Zack Wheeler, meanwhile, is penciled in to make his 2026 season debut on April 25 versus the Braves.
