May 14 marked the first time that Ranger Suarez faced the Phillies after spending his entire career with the franchise. However, Kyle Schwarber and his former teammates bested Suarez and the Red Sox.

Phillies take series in Boston

The Phillies defeated the Red Sox 3-1 in Boston.

Kyle Schwarber hit his 18th home run of the 2026 season, which currently leads the league. Additionally, Schwarber set some more Phillies history, as he passed Hall of Famer Dick Allen for 10th all-time in home runs.

As for the pitching, it was stout on both sides. Jesus Luzardo tossed six scoreless innings, while Ranger Suarez struck out eight in his first game against his old team.

White Sox win again

The Chicago White Sox defeated the Royals 6-2, giving the former a 22-21 record and a one-game cushion in the AL Wild Card.

Randal Grichuk, who signed with the White Sox earlier this month, had a banner day for his new team. He took Kris Bubic deep in the first inning for a two-run shot, then drove in two more in the third.

Anthony Kay allowed just two earned runs over six innings.

Mets sweep Tigers

Despite a three-run home run from Gage Workman in the first, the Mets won 9-4 to complete a sweep of the struggling Tigers.

A.J. Ewing picked up two hits, one of which was his first MLB home run. Brett Baty, Juan Soto, Mark Vientos, and Marcus Semien also went deep for the Mets. Nolan McLean struck out seven over seven innings.

The Mets have now won seven of their last 10 games.

Reds blow out Nationals

The Reds beat up on Foster Griffin and the Nationals, as Cincinnati tallied a 15-1 victory over Washington.

Griffin gave up nine home runs in 4.1 IP, exacerbated by two home runs allowed. JJ Bleday hit one of his two home runs on the day off Griffin, while Matt McLain hit his fourth of the season off the Nationals pitcher in the second.

Chase Burns struck out seven over six scoreless innings. He lowered his ERA to 1.87.
