Yet again, Wrigley Field was home to a walk-off. Thanks to heroics from Pete Crow-Armstrong and the Cubs’ offense, Chicago won their eighth consecutive game on May 6. And speaking of the NL Central, Paul Skenes put together a masterful performance in Arizona.
Cubs walk it off again
The Cubs walked it off for the third straight game against the Reds, as Chicago defeated Cincinnati 7-6 in 10 innings.
Cincinnati chewed back to take a lead in the ninth. Spencer Steer hit a home run to make it a one-run game, then a JJ Bleday single tied the game. Then, the Reds scored two on a sacrifice fly from Elly De La Cruz, as Seiya Suzuki hit the wall to make a catch and couldn’t get the ball back in time.
But in the bottom half, Pete Crow-Armstrong hit a two-run home run to tie the game. And in the tenth, Michael Busch walked it off again, this time with a walk.
Eovaldi is brilliant for Rangers
Nathan Eovaldi shut down the Yankees to give Texas a 6-1 victory over the Yankees.
Eovaldi (35.2% Whiff%) struck out eight over eight innings for the Rangers. Corey Seager and Evan Carter both hit home runs for Texas.
Rays sweep Jays
The Rays, meanwhile, moved to half a game out of first place in the AL East. Tampa Bay won 3-0 over the Blue Jays.
Shane McClanahan (30% Whiff%) struck out four over 5.2 IP to notch his fourth win of the 2026 campaign.
Toronto had just four hits on the day, two of which came from Myles Straw.
Nationals, Dodgers with blowout wins
The Dodgers’ offense torched the Astros in a 12-2 victory.
Andy Pages hit three home runs for the Dodgers, which propelled him to a six-RBI night. Shohei Ohtani, Kyle Tucker, Hyeseong Kim, and Dalton Rushing had two hits on the day, as well.
Meanwhile, home runs from Drew Millas, James Wood, Brady House, and CJ Abrams helped the Nationals win 15-2 over the Twins. Abrams had three hits and five RBI on the night.
Skenes dominant
A Brandon Lowe was all the Pirates needed to win 1-0 over the Diamondbacks.
Paul Skenes was the reason why, as the right-hander struck out seven and only allowed two hits over eight scoreless innings. Gregory Soto shut the door for his second save of 2026.
Michael Soroka (31% Whiff%) rebounded well after his ERA took a jump over the past few weeks. Soroka struck out six and allowed just the one run in 6.1 IP.
