As the middle of July and the 2026 All-Star Game break approach, it’s time to do some team power rankings across Major League Baseball. It’s been a great month for the Marlins and Cubs, two teams that’ve moved up significantly in our updated rankings. However, the Blue Jays and Mariners are among notable fallers.

The Bottom

The Blue Jays’ offense has the third-lowest team OPS (.661) over the last month. Not exactly a recipe for success as Toronto looks to get back on track. Granted, the Jays are just 2.5 games out of a playoff spot. But the likes of George Springer and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. haven’t replicated their 2025 performances.

On the other side of the spectrum, the Athletics’ team ERA over the last month was 6.51, dead last in the Majors. It felt like this was going to catch up at some point, as even though Gage Jump pitched well in his rookie season, the depth pitching hasn’t performed to where it needs to be.

Jeffrey Springs, who’s had a reputation of being a fly-ball pitcher throughout his career, has conceded 10 home runs over his last 22.2 IP, along with an ERA north of 10.00.

Cincinnati and the Mets battled for that last playoff spot last year. But in 2026, neither looks like a playoff contender. The Mets have played better over the last month. Unfortunately, the team fell behind over the first two months. And, the big problem has been pitching, as the Mets owned the second-worst team ERA (5.43) in the NL over the past month.

The Reds, meanwhile, have been on the opposite side. Good pitching but few runs scored, as the Reds pushed home 98 over the last 25 games.

The Middle

Over the last month, the Yankees, as a team, have slashed .217/.278/.387 (.665 OPS). If there was any doubt about why Aaron Judge is so valuable, this month has been proof of that.

It’s been a slog, at times, for the Yankees to score runs. The good news for the Yanks is that Ben Rice is closing in on a 30-home run season.

Another team that’s hit hard times is the Mariners. Seattle’s .626 team OPS over the past month is the worst across the league. Julio Rodriguez, before he went on the IL, had just one home run over his last 18 contests. Cal Raleigh has struggled, as has Luke Raley. If you have Dominic Canzone & Cole Young on your production bingo card for 2026, congratulations.

Those struggles for the Mariners have opened up an avenue for the Astros to sneak back into the playoff race. Heading into the final weekend before the break, Houston is two back of the AL West and 1.5 games outside a Wild Card spot.

The Twins, meanwhile, have been one of baseball’s better offensive teams over the last month. An .805 team OPS that ranked among the top 10 in the league, thanks to the likes of Josh Bell, Byron Buxton, and Kody Clemens.

Boston’s pitching staff has pushed the Red Sox back into the playoff conversation. The Sox have done it without Garrett Crochet, as offseason acquisition Sonny Gray has pitched like an ace. Ranger Suarez has been excellent, as have rookies Payton Tolle and Jake Bennett.

The Red Sox’s team ERA of 2.99 was second-best over the last 30 days, behind only the Tigers. We’ll see how long Tarik Skubal remains in Detroit. But he’s been good since returning from the IL. But perhaps the real story is Troy Melton, who had a .76 ERA over his last four starts.

Moving to the NL, the Nationals, Diamondbacks, and Pirates are trying to hold on in the NL Wild Card race. It hasn’t been easy for any of the three clubs. Finding consistent pitching has been tough for both the Nats and Diamondbacks. The Pirates have needed to navigate life without Oneil Cruz and now Konnor Griffin.

The Top

The Dodgers were the first team to 60 wins, and by all indications, will likely cruise to the top spot in the National League, barring a second-half collapse. Even though it wasn’t the cleanest first half, particularly given that Kyle Tucker hasn’t played like a $60MM player, the depth has helped push the reigning World Series champions back to the top of the Majors.

After that, the Brewers and Braves finish out the top three. Milwaukee’s strong pitching staff, led by Jacob Misiorowski, has been incredible this season. And despite a 9-15 record over the last month, the Braves still hold a top-three spot, as that lofty cushion created at the beginning of the season has sustained them.

And boy, have the Braves needed that cushion. Philadelphia went 15-11 over the last month to continue chasing the Braves. And the Marlins, at #5, have gone 19-7 over the past 30 days, the best mark in all of baseball.

Moving to the American League, the Rays have played much better baseball of late. That, coupled with the Yankees’ fall, has kept Tampa Bay in a strong position. As of July 10, the Rays are the best club in the American League record-wise.
