Atlanta added a left-hander on September 9, as Bailey Falter was selected to the 40-man roster and activated. That was one of several moves made on the day, which also saw the Giants make another waiver claim after grabbing Joel Kuhnel and Brett Harris earlier in the month.

Falter back in Majors

The Royals selected pitcher Bailey Falter from Triple-A Gwinnett.

Falter pitched in five games with the Royals this season, owning an ERA north of 5.00 in that brief work. He was designated for assignment by the Royals in May, outrighted to Triple-A in June, and was traded to the Braves alongside Lane Thomas in August. He does have significant MLB experience working as both a starter and reliever.

Additionally, the Braves designated Elieser Hernandez for assignment.

Giants claim reliever

The Giants claimed reliever Duncan Davitt from the Atlanta Braves.

Davitt made two appearances in the Majors this season, both with the White Sox. He allowed one earned run over two innings, striking out one in that work. Primary fastball/slider pitcher who sat as high as 94 MPH with his heater in MLB work this season.

Spencer Bivens was designated for assignment.

Recalls & options

Jeremiah Jackson (Orioles), Eddy Yean (Nationals), and Chris Murphy (White Sox) were recalled from the Minors.

Blake Walston (Diamondbacks), Kade Strowd (Diamondbacks), Zak Kent (Nationals), and Bradley Blalock (Marlins) were optioned down.

Other notes

Orioles pitcher Albert Suarez elected free agency.

The Mets released reliever Joe Jacques, who was on the club’s Triple-A affiliate.
