We covered many of the big moves on Trade Deadline day across Major League Baseball. But there might have been some moves you missed. Here’s a breakdown of some of those, including Kris Bubic, Moises Ballesteros, and Marcelo Mayer all going out west.

Bubic to Los Angeles

Perhaps the big move of deadline day that went under the radar was Kris Bubic going to Los Angeles for reliever Carlos Duran.

Bubic was a 2025 AL All-Star who will be a pending free agent after the 2026 season. He struck out 51 over 50 innings when he was healthy this season. The problem is that he hasn’t been, as Bubic is currently on the 60-day IL.

That wasn’t the only move that the Dodgers made. In need of catchers, the club re-acquired catcher Ben Rortvedt from the Mets for pitcher Chayce McDermott.

Former top prospects dealt

The Giants acquired former first-round pick Marcelo Mayer in a three-player trade with the Red Sox. Boston received big-league reliever, lefty Erik Miller, plus outfielder Carlos Gutierrez.

Mayer, a 2021 first-round pick, slashed .220/.282/.312 with three home runs and 13 extra-base hits for the Red Sox over 70 games this season.

Moises Ballesteros, a catcher/DH blocked on the Cubs’ depth chart, was traded to the Angels along with Mason McGwire for reliever Ryan Zeferjahn.
