Some smaller moves were made on July 6, a relatively lighter day across Major League Baseball. Both the Giants and Mets picked up relievers. The Braves, meanwhile, continue their roster shuffle.

Giants claim Cerantola

The Giants claimed former Royal Eric Cerantola off waivers from the Royals.

Cerantola, a 26-year-old and a former fifth-round pick by Kansas City, worked as a late-inning reliever with Triple-A Omaha. He struck out 43 over 30.1 IP with the Storm Chasers and has four games of MLB experience.

Mets trade for Seelinger

The Mets traded for Minor League reliever Matt Seelinger in a cash trade.

Seelinger, a 31-year-old, induced a lot of swing-and-miss in Triple-A Toledo, which helped him get to 49 strikeouts over 39 innings with the Mud Hens. The righty returns to New York, as he’s a Long Island native who pitched collegiately at SUNY Farmingdale.

JR Ritchie (Braves), Chris Roycroft (Rays), Cole Henry (Nationals), and Gordon Graceffo (Cardinals) were recalled.

Paul Gervase (Dodgers), Cody Lawyerson (Twins), Mason Englert (Rays), Cameron Weston (Orioles), Adrian Del Castillo (D-Backs), Eddy Yean (Nationals), Alec Gamboa (Red Sox), Kade Morris (Athletics), and Ray Delgado (Astros) were optioned to the Minors.

Other notes

Jack Anderson (Red Sox), Carlos Carrasco (Braves), and Chuckie Robinson (Dodgers) were designated for assignment.

Los Angeles (NL) selected pitcher Carlos Duran from Triple-A Oklahoma City. Duran, who signed with the Dodgers in the 2025-26 offseason, was traded by Los Angeles to the A’s last year for Esteury Ruiz.

Additionally, the Dodgers released pitcher Jake Eder.

The Braves selected the contract of outfielder Jose Azocar from Triple-A.

Giants reliever Gregory Santos was sent outright to Triple-A Sacramento.
