More post-Trade Deadline aftermath occurred on August 6, as several Major Leaguers were claimed off waivers. Cincinnati picked up two, one of whom was former Pirate Ron Marinaccio. The Nationals, meanwhile, grabbed Wyatt Mills from the Dodgers.

Waiver claims

The Reds claimed relief pitcher Ron Marinaccio off waivers from the Pirates. It’s the second time that Marinaccio has changed teams this season, as Pittsburgh acquired him in a trade with the Padres two weeks earlier.

Marinaccio made four appearances with the Pirates, allowing four earned runs over 5.1 IP.

He wasn’t the only one to be claimed off waivers by the Reds. The club also picked up Chase Solesky off waivers from the Rays. Solesky was optioned immediately after the move.

As for other moves, the Royals claimed now-ex-Cub reliever Luke Little off waivers from Chicago. The 25-year-old made just one appearance this season for the Cubs, which came way back in April. Across 34 appearances with Triple-A Iowa, the 25-year-old struck out 44 over 39.1 IP but walked 34.

The Nationals, meanwhile, claimed pitcher Wyatt Mills from the Dodgers. Mills has been up-and-down between Triple-A and the Majors this season. He walked six over 6.1 IP with Los Angeles this season, four of which came in one outing against the Giants back in May.

He doesn’t throw all that hard, topping out at 93-94 MPH with the Dodgers. However, the 31-year-old accumulated a lot of strikeouts in Triple-A, with 52 over 37.1 IP.

Recalls & options

Braxton Garrett (Cubs) was released from Triple-A.

Tyler Ferguson (Cubs) and Zach Dezenzo (Astros) were optioned to the Minors.

Other notes

Detroit signed catcher Seby Zavala to a Minor League deal.

The Reds released Sam Haggerty, who was in Triple-A. Christian Arroyo (Mets) and Grant Hartwig (Twins) were also released by their respective clubs.
