It looks like the National League will be hosting the annual All-Star Game event through at least the 2028 season. Major League Baseball announced the site location for the 2028 All-Star Game in 2026. And it’ll be held in a familiar venue, one that’s hosted a previous Midsummer Classic.
The 2028 MLB All-Star Game
MLB announced on August 14, 2026, that the 98th installment of the All-Star Game will be held in Oracle Park. It is the home of the San Francisco Giants.
It’ll mark the first time in 21 years that the Midsummer Classic will be contested in San Francisco. That year, the American League won 5-4 over the National League. It was a contest that featured Barry Bonds for the final time in an All-Star Game and five future Hall of Famers in the AL starting lineup. The AL hit three home runs, most memorably Ichiro Suzuki‘s inside-the-park homer.
San Francisco was rumored to be receiving the 2028 installment of the event for months before it was made official in August 2026. This is because Major League Baseball made public its interest in having players participate in the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles. The sport will make a return to the Olympics in 2028. It was contested in the 2020 (held in 2021) Games in Tokyo but not in 2024.
However, it’s unclear as of this writing whether the league will participate. More clarity will come once the league and the MLB Players Association come to terms on a new collective bargaining agreement. The current one expires after the 2026 campaign.
Wrigley Field will host the 2027 MLB All-Star Game, assuming that the game will be held due to the pending lockout.
