At this point, we don’t know what 2027 will hold with respect to Major League Baseball and its upcoming season. But there will be baseball played, no matter what. College baseball will, obviously, conduct a season in ’27. As will Minor League Baseball.
When does the 2027 MiLB season start?
Minor League Baseball will open up on March 26, 2027, at Triple-A.
Triple-A is always the league that starts up first, as all 30 teams from that circuit generally start a day after the beginning of the MLB regular season.
The rest of the full-season leagues will get going on April 9, 2027. This includes Double-A, High-A, and Low-A.
Start dates for rookie leagues have yet to be determined.
How long does it run?
It depends on the league.
The Triple-A regular season will conclude on September 19, 2027, putting it in line with the scheduled conclusion of the ’27 MLB season one week later. This lengthened Triple-A schedule has been the norm since the 2021 season.
Double-A will wrap up its regular season on September 12, 2027. Lastly, High-A and Low-A seasons end on September 5, 2027. As has become tradition, the A-ball leagues always finish up first among the full-season leagues.
Be mindful, though, that this only includes the regular season. All full-season leagues do conduct a playoff.
Will the schedule be affected by an MLB lockout?
No.
Should MLB lock out the players associated with the Major League Baseball Players Association (MLBPA) in December 2026, Minor League schedules will be unaffected.
That does not necessarily mean that the Minor Leagues, in general, won’t be affected. Once the offseason begins, any player on the 40-man roster is automatically added to the MLB active roster. Meaning, 40-man roster players won’t be permitted to play in Minor League games.
Obviously, that won’t affect the vast majority of Minor League players & teams. But it will affect some. As for the schedules, that’s set in stone.
