Much like on the 18th, August 19 saw several notable promotions become final. The Diamondbacks and Brewers pushed Kayson Cunningham and Brady Ebel, respectively, to full-season ball. Meanwhile, the Marlins shuffled several of their prospects around the organizational ladder.
More ’25 Draft picks promoted
The Diamondbacks promoted infielder Kayson Cunningham to Low-A Visalia on August 19. Cunningham was the 18th overall pick in the 2025 MLB Draft out of high school in Texas.
Cunningham, born in Tucson, wasn’t the only notable draft pick who moved up to full-season ball. Brady Ebel, selected by Milwaukee in the first round last July, moved to Low-A Carolina, a team that could use some infield depth after losing prospects Jesus Made and Luis Pena to High-A Wisconsin.
Charles Davalan, one of the Dodgers’ first-round picks, was moved to Low-A Rancho Cucamonga.
There were other draft picks moved to full-season ball, aside from the two notable first-rounders.
Cameron Maldonado, the former Northeastern outfielder taken by the Giants in the seventh round, was moved to San Jose (A) alongside fifth-rounder Lorenzo Meola.
Pierce Coppola (Cubs, 7th) and Jaxon Dalena (Padres, 6th) moved to Low-A.
Other notable promotions
Two notable Florida State League prospects were moved to High-A on August 19, joining another one — who was a 2025 first-rounder by the Twins — from the 18th.
Axiel Plaz will look to provide some pop for Greensboro after losing Konnor Griffin. Plaz, in his second season with Bradenton (A), performed much better in his second season. The 20-year-old hit 20 extra-base hits across 56 games, along with a gaudy 8.2 Barrel/PA, with the Mauraders.
Dillon Head, part of the Luis Arraez trade, was promoted to High-A Beloit. Head, a former first-rounder, hit .223/.334/.318 (.652 OPS) with Jupiter before the move.
The 20-year-old Head isn’t a power hitter by any stretch of the imagination. However, he’s been regarded as a plus-plus runner. Head stole 36 bases with the Hammerheads and walked 58 times.
Gage Miller, the Marlins’ third-round pick in 2024, was promoted to Double-A. Miller didn’t strike out a lot (14.9% K%) but didn’t hit for much power. He slashed .204/.329/.308 (.637 OPS) with Beloit.
Orioles C/1B Ethan Anderson, who hit .381 with two home runs and 16 RBI in August for Aberdeen (A+), was moved to Double-A.
