For the first time since 2024, the MLB Field of Dreams game is coming back. And, it’ll be returning to where it all started. For those unaware, the Field of Dreams game is a nod not just to baseball’s past but also to the 1989 movie Field of Dreams. Here’s a look at when it will be held, plus the two teams playing in it.

When & where will the 2026 Field of Dreams game be held?

The 2026 Field of Dreams game will be held on August 13, 2026, in Dyersville, Iowa.

This will be the first time since 2022 that Major League Baseball will contest a regular-season game in Dyersville, the site of the “Field of Dreams” featured in the 1989 movie.

In 2022, the Cubs played the Reds in Iowa. A year earlier, the first-ever Field of Dreams game pitted the Yankees against the White Sox.

Construction at the site area of where the league held the first two games was a major factor.

MLB held a Field of Dreams game in 2024. However, that game, which featured the Cardinals and Giants, was contested at Rickwood Field in Alabama.

Which teams will participate?

The Philadelphia Phillies and Minnesota Twins will play in the 2026 Field of Dreams game.

This will be the first time that the Field of Dreams game will feature an interleague contest.

Minnesota, which isn’t too far from Dyersville, Iowa, will be the host team for the event. It’ll be the first of three games between the Twins and Phillies in 2026. Both teams will have a day off on August 14 before playing the final two games at Target Field.

It should also be noted that the Field of Dreams game will be shown on Netflix, as part of the league’s new TV agreement with the streaming service. The first three Field of Dreams games were shown on FOX.
