On August 11, San Diego Studios dropped the August Topps Now Program in MLB The Show 23. The program comes with new Topps Now cards, and Diamond Dynasty players do have the ability to unlock special 99 OVR cards Framber Valdez and Michael Lorenzen as part of this program. Most cards from this Program are for Set 3. Any Topps Now card past the 58 Star Point threshold is for Set 4.
The 99 OVR Framber Valdez Collection
On August 11, San Diego Studio dropped a special Collection within the August Topps Now Program. Those who collect 100 Topps Now cards from either the April, May, June, July, or August Topps Now Programs, as well as special ones dropped in Events or Battle Royale can get a 99 OVR Framber Valdez.
This Valdez is in commemoration of his no-hitter on August 1. Here’s a look at the stats on the 99 OVR Valdez:
To claim the Valdez, scroll down to the ‘August Topps Now Tasks.’ in the program. Then, select the ‘99 Framber Valdez’ collection and lock in the cards.
The 99 OVR Michael Lorenzen Collection
A week later, a 99 OVR Topps Now Michael Lorenzen was added as a Collection reward.
125 Topps Now cards need to be collected for Lorenzen.
How to make Progress in August Topps Now Program
Much like in previous months, users must complete Moments that feature the players that received Topps Now cards in Diamond Dynasty. Additionally, there are PXP Missions featuring players from the Program and Stat-based Missions that involve the Flashbacks.
Here’s a look at the Mission and Moment requirements:
- Complete five Topps Now Week 1 Moments (10 pts. – 2 pts. each)
- Complete eight Topps Now Week 2 Moments (16 pts. – 2 pts. each)
- Complete six Topps Now Week 3 Moments (12 pts. – 2 pts. each)
- Complete eight Topps Now Week 4 Moments (16 pts. – 2 pts. each)
- Complete 14 Topps Now Week 4 Moments (28 pts. – 2 pts. each)
- Tally 1,000 PXP with August Topps Now Week 1 and Flashback cards (Marlowe, Gibson, Altuve, Schneider, McKenzie, Nootbaar, Rasmussen, Swanson, and 99 OVR Valdez) in Diamond Dynasty (1v1 Ranked, Battle Royale, Events, Play vs. CPU, Mini Seasons, and Conquest) (4 pts.)
