On June 20, San Diego Studios changed the look of the cover of MLB The Show 25’s digital version. Paul Skenes, one of the three featured athletes, is now on front and in honor of it. SDS released a new Takeover Program featuring the Pirates ace. Those who complete it can earn a free 94 OVR card.

- 5 Points: 3,000 XP
- 10 Points: MLB The Show 25 pack
- 15 Points: 3,000 XP
- 20 Points: 3,000 XP

- 30 Points: 94 OVR Cover Athletes Paul Skenes and 3,000 XP
This Skenes is four overall points higher than the 90 OVR Elly that dropped as a Takeover Program in early May. Here’s a look at the attributes on the 94 OVR Skenes:
How to make progress
Here’s a look at all the available tasks for the Skenes Takeover Program:
- Complete four Moments (12 pts. – 3 pts. each)
- Stat Missions:
- Tally five wins with starting pitchers (3 pts.)
- Tally 30 innings pitched with Pirates (3 pts.)
- Tally 30 hits with primary shortstops (3 pts.)
- Tally 30 hits with Pirates (3 pts.)
- Tally 3,000 PXP with Pirates players (3 pts)
- Tally 4,000 PXP with Pirates players (3 pts)
- Tally 5,000 PXP with Pirates players (3 pts)
- OPTIONAL Paul Skenes Missions:
- Tally 15 innings pitched with any Paul Skenes card (3 pts.)
- Tally 25 strikeouts with any Paul Skenes card (3 pts.)
The stat Missions can be completed in either single-player or online game modes within Diamond Dynasty. Showdown & Moments are excluded.
Now, as far as where to find free players to use for the Missions, consider using either Color Storm Jared Jones or even some of the Pipeline Past players. Startling Marte and Gerrit Cole both received Pirates Flashbacks, with Cole being in the program.
For the optional Missions, it’s worth noting that one can use either the Gold Skenes in the Starter Program or his Live Series Diamond.
