The Diamondbacks have been besieged with injuries in recent weeks, as Corbin Burnes and Justin Martinez joined a lengthy list of players out for Arizona. That list got longer on June 19, as Gabriel Moreno landed on the IL. However, it looks like the D-Backs dodged a bullet with their superstar outfielder.
More injuries for D-Backs
The Diamondbacks placed catcher Gabriel Moreno on the injured list with a right hand contusion. It’s retroactive to June 16.
Moreno originally injured the hand two weeks in Cincinnati. He came back to play three games after missing three. But, he wound up missing three more before Arizona ultimately placed him on the IL.
However, Moreno isn’t the only D-Back dealing with a hand issue.
Corbin Carroll, meanwhile, missed Arizona’s series finale against the Blue Jays with a hand injury. Carroll left the Diamondbacks’ game on June 18 after being hit by a pitch.
X-rays on his hand were negative, per manager Torey Lovullo.
Nola to 60-day IL
The Phillies officially transferred Aaron Nola to the 60-day IL, clearing a roster space for utilityman Buddy Kennedy. Kennedy, per the New York Times, triggered an upward mobility clause in his deal and the Phillies opted to add him to the MLB roster & retain him.
Nola has been on the injured list since mid-May, thanks to an ankle injury. However, he suffered a setback last week when it was revealed he sustained a stress fracture in one of his ribs.
He won’t be eligible to return until mid-July.
