Just before the start of the 2025 College World Series final, USA Baseball announced the winner of the 2025 Golden Spikes Award. The honor goes to the best amateur player in the country. Arkansas infielder Wehiwa Aloy helped play a key role for the Razorbacks, and now, he’ll join the likes of ex-SEC stars Andrew Benintendi and Kevin Kopps as winners of the award.

Wehiwa Aloy won the 2025 Golden Spikes Award, beating out the two semifinalists, Florida State infielder Alex Lodise and Tennessee pitcher Liam Doyle.

The junior infielder played a key role for Arkansas’ run to the College World Series, which narrowly ended at the hands of LSU in Omaha. Aloy finished the 2025 campaign tied with teammate Charles Davalan for 11th in Division I in total hits (93), and tied for fourth in total bases (179) alongside Roch Cholowsky.

It was a remarkable run for Aloy, who shone brightly once SEC play began. The Arkansas infielder led Arkansas against the toughest competition, as 10 of his 21 home runs came in conference play.

Aloy will look to become the third-straight Golden Spikes winner to be selected in the first round next month. The 2023 (Dylan Crews) and 2024 (Charlie Condon) winners both went in the top five.

Given he’s one of the best infielders available, Aloy stands a good chance of doing just that.

He also became the third Arkansas player to win the Golden Spikes since 2015. Andrew Benintendi (2015) and Kevin Kopps (2021) did so previously.

As for the other finalists, Lodise (as of June 21) is ninth in Division I in hits and helped lead the Seminoles to the Super Regionals. Doyle is second in Division I in strikeouts (164), as the left-handed fell behind Kade Anderson in June.
