The penultimate week of the 2025 Division I college baseball season concluded on the 11th, meaning we’re one week away from the beginning of the postseason. And, the updated coaches’ poll has a new school in the #1 spot. Thanks to a marquee series win against a fellow top-five school, LSU is on top heading into the final weekend.

First, here’s the post-Week 13 coaches’ poll rankings, courtesy of USA Today:

Oklahoma and Arizona dropped out of the top 25 from last week.

LSU is back in the #1 spot. The Tigers took two of three from the Arkansas Razorbacks in Baton Rouge, including a 13-3 mercy rule win on May 10, to take the top spot.

The Tigers have been carried by their top co-aces all season and that was no different this past weekend. Kade Anderson struck out 10 on May 9, while Anthony Eyanson picked up 11 one day later to pace the Tigers’ pitching staff.

Florida State jumped to #2 after a road series win at Berkeley against the Cal Bears. FSU got major contributions from Jamie Arnold and Drew Faurot on the 9th. Faurot picked up four hits, including a home run, while Arnold struck out nine.

FSU will close out the regular season against #4 North Carolina. UNC split their two-game series against NC State, as the third game was cancelled due to inclement weather.

Getting back to the SEC, Auburn moved to #6 after a three-game sweep of South Carolina. The Tigers will finish the 2025 regular season in Oxford against #25 Ole Miss.

Additionally, two teams entered the top-25 with one week to play: Florida and Duke.

The Gators took two of three from Texas, the #1 team in the nation before the latest rankings update. Even though Florida is 13-14 in SEC play, #21 Florida has now taken each of the last five series in conference play, heading into their final weekend series against Alabama.

Florida won an 8-2 contest on May 9 thanks to multi-hit games from Hayden Yost and Ty Evans. The Gators couldn’t win on the 10th despite four shutout innings from Liam Peterson but did on the 11th thanks to seven shutout innings from standout freshman Aidan King. King now has 64 strikeouts over 59 frames, along with a 2.90 ERA.

Duke, meanwhile, took two of three on the road in Clemson to win their third straight ACC weekend series.

It’s been an off year for Duke, as the Blue Devils haven’t had a consistent pitching staff in 2025. Duke lost pieces to pro ball, and Kyle Johnson, the expected ace heading into the year, has shifted into a multi-inning relief role. A.J. Gracia, who came into 2025 as a potential 2026 first-round pick, is batting below .300.

However, other figures on the Blue Devils, highlighted by grad students Ben Rounds and Ben Miller, have powered the offense. Miller, who picked up three hits this past weekend, has 18 home runs on the season.
