The Diamondbacks have been without one of their top stars, Corbin Carroll, for the last few days. It’s the latest in what’s been a tough season injury-wise for Arizona. Now, the D-Backs will have Carroll undergo an MRI to get a better idea of his hand injury.

Carroll to get MRI

The 22nd marked the fourth straight day Corbin Carroll hadn’t played. Carroll missed each of the last four games after taking a hit by pitch off his left hand, and now, he’s scheduled for an MRI.

Carroll will get the MRI on June 23 in Chicago, where the Diamondbacks will play the White Sox.

It’s worth noting that the Diamondbacks stated Carroll was available off the bench on June 21. He didn’t play, and now, the D-Backs will err on the side of caution.

Dobbins on IL

The Red Sox placed Hunter Dobbins on the injured list, retroactive to June 21.

Dobbins, who averaged 94.1 MPH — roughly 1.4 MPH slower than his 2025 average — during his start against the Giants on the 20th, was diagnosed with an elbow strain.

Timeline for Rutschman’s injury

On June 21, the Orioles placed Adley Rutschman on the injured list for the first time in his pro career. Rutschman is eligible to come off the IL before the All-Star break but won’t, per the team.

Manager Tony Mansolino stated Rutschman isn’t expected back until after the game in Atlanta.

Other injury news

The next week will be a good one for returning pitchers. Not only are Shota Imanaga (Cubs) and Frankie Montas (Mets) scheduled to return but so is Max Scherzer. Scherzer stated on June 22 that he’s returning to start on the 25th against the Guardians.

New York (AL) placed Ryan Yarbrough on the 15-day IL, retroactive to June 20. Yarbrough is dealing with a right oblique strain.

The Athletics transferred Gunnar Hoglund, out for the rest of 2025, to the 60-day IL.

Jackson Merrill was activated off the injured list.
