The good news is there wasn’t a lot of significant injury action on June 28. The Yankees confirmed one of their injured starters will return on June 29. However, several notable players, including Josh Naylor & Hunter Goodman, didn’t suit up on the 28th.

Naylor missed game on 28th

Josh Naylor, who exited the Diamondbacks’ game on June 27 thanks to neck stiffness, did not play on the 28th thanks to said injury.

It comes at a tough time, as the Diamondbacks are down several regulars. As noted earlier this month, Corbin Carroll and Gabriel Moreno are on the injured list.

Stroman to start on June 29

The Yankees will get Marcus Stroman back before the calendar shifts to July. Strowman, per the team, will be activated on the 29th and start against the Athletics.

The veteran right-hander, who was out with left knee inflammation, made three rehab starts with Somerset (AA) but didn’t perform particularly well. While his first one went fine, Stroman gave up eight runs (seven ER) over his final seven frames.

Rehab assignments

Royce Lewis went 0-2 with a walk for St. Paul (AAA) on June 28. Lewis, who was the Saints’ DH, came out for a pinch hitter in the seventh inning.

Cardinals outfielder Jordan Walker went 1-4 with two RBI for Memphis (AAA). Walker, recovering from an appendectomy, came out in the eighth inning.

Mets reliever Brooks Raley struck out two over 1.2 IP with Binghamton (AA).

Other injury news

Astros shortstop Jeremy Pena did not play on June 28, one day after taking a HBP off his ribs.

Hunter Goodman missed his third straight game, as he deals with a hamstring injury.

Zach Neto (shoulder) & Jordan Westburg (finger) did not start on June 28, either.

The Red Sox transferred Justin Slaten (shoulder inflammation) from the 15-day IL to the 60-day IL. Additionally, Boston placed Luis Guerrero on the 15-day IL with a right elbow strain.

Lance McCullers Jr. (Astros), Chris Murphy (Red Sox), and Matt Vierling (Tigers) were activated off the injured list.
