One of the more notable trade targets this summer landed on the injured list on June 29. White Sox outfielder Luis Robert Jr., who hurt his hamstring this week and now will have sit out at least the next week. Additionally, the Red Sox released updates on several notable injured hitters.

Robert Jr. on IL

Chicago (AL) placed Luis Robert Jr. on the 10-day IL with a left hamstring strain on June 29, retroactive to June 26.

Robert Jr. hasn’t played since June 25 against the Diamondbacks. The White Sox outfielder came out of the game that day in the first inning after hurting himself out in the field.

Harper nears return this week

The Phillies could get Bryce Harper back this week — and as early as June 30.

Manager Rob Thompson said Harper was stiff after taking so many swings to get back to in-game form. However, the plan was for him to rest and re-evaluate, putting him on a potential path to return during Philadelphia’s upcoming homestand.

Yoshida nears rehab assignment

Boston provided updates on several injured players this weekend.

Masataka Yoshida, who’s missed all of 2025 thus far, could head out on a rehab assignment as early as July 1, per manager Alex Cora. Yoshida, recovering from offseason shoulder surgery, couldn’t play the field despite working as a DH in Spring Training.

Additionally, Alex Bregman (quad) has resumed baseball activities.

Other injury news

Brandon Woodruff is back on the rehab path yet again. Woodruff, who’s dealt with multiple setbacks this season during his recovery from shoulder surgery, gave up four runs over 3.2 IP on June 29 with Nashville (AAA).

Woodruff struck out just one batter.

Jonathan Cannon (White Sox), Edgardo Henriquez (Dodgers), and Marcus Stroman (Yankees) were activated off the injured list.
