We’ll start with the biggest fallers of the week, starting with Arkansas. The Razorbacks moved down seven spots after Arkansas lost two of three at home to Georgia. Arkansas won the first game on the back of a strong pitching performance by Hunter Dietz. However, Georgia won the second game and then took the series on a football score of 26-14.

Daniel Jackson hit three home runs for Georgia, pushing him to 20 on the season.

USC fell 14 spots after a sweep at the hands of Nebraska. The Cornhuskers, now up to #16, won the final two games of the series by 10 runs each. Dylan Carey hit two home runs in the final two contests for the Cornhuskers.

Florida moved down to four spots after Auburn took two of three in Gainesville.

The Tigers, meanwhile, moved up two spots to #9. Mason McCraine hit two home runs for Auburn in the second game of the series and tallied one more in the finale. Auburn also received plenty of good pitching. Alex Petrovic struck out five and went seven innings in the final game.

Also in the SEC, Mississippi State swept South Carolina in Columbia over the weekend, moving the school to #11. The Bulldogs pitched a shutout in the second game, highlighted by a 12-strikeout performance from Duke Stone.

Lastly, we can’t move on from the week without writing about the big series in Chapel Hill between the Tar Heels and the Yellow Jackets. UNC took the first two games to win the series and move into #2 in the overall ranks.

Jason DeCaro struck out four, and Jake Schaffner had three hits in the opener. The Tar Heels opened up the floodgates in Game 2 with 14 runs. Owen Hull, Macon Winslow, and Cooper Nicholson all homered in the victory.
