We’re into the sixth full week of the 2026 Major League and fantasy baseball season. And, a new week means some new potential options to fill out the pitching staff. Among the new options are a notable pitcher from Seattle who is working his way back from injury, plus Logan Henderson from the Brewers.

Best Week 6 pitchers to target

For those who listened to us in Week 5, and I’ll touch on that in the next section, you might be in a good spot to begin with, as far as two-start options this week. However, we’ll give you one more for Week 6.

Janson Junk, over his last two starts, went 11 innings and didn’t allow an earned run. He threw five strong innings on April 22, then outdueled Shohei Ohtani and the Dodgers on April 28. Next up will be the Phillies on May 4, before a likely weekend start versus the Nationals.

In a sense, Junk lives up to his name. He doesn’t throw hard, nor does he induce a lot of swing-and-miss. But, Junk will give hitters a lot of different looks, between the low-90s, riding four-seamer, changeup, sweeper, slider, and curveball. Not to mention, get a good amount of looking strikes.

Logan Henderson was recalled from the Minors on May 3 and, for now, should be in the rotation. Brandon Woodruff is on the IL, and Henderson — who pitched well in the Majors when he was up in 2025 — struck out eight against the Nationals in his first start back in 2026.

No, the swing-and-miss rate (20%) was low in his initial 2026 outing. However, he’s always had that good changeup, and Henderson picked up 11 called strikes in what was a positive outing against Washington.

Speaking of the Nationals, Foster Griffin’s craftiness continued over the weekend. Griffin didn’t allow an earned run over six innings on May 2, which lowered his 2026 ERA to 2.27.

Sometimes, it’s good for pitchers to find somewhere to play and grow, which is what Griffin did in Japan. The 30-year-old has a brand-new arsenal compared to what he had in his early MLB days, fitted with a splitter and a sinker that’s induced a lot of swing-and-miss early on.

Jameson Taillon, for those looking for a spot starter, will get the Reds on May 5.

Lastly, one IL stash to consider. Bryce Miller struck out four over four in his last rehab start, and the velocity was up. Good news for the right-hander who’s dealt with injury troubles over the past two years.

Overview of Week 5

Another good week for us.

Nick Martinez was spectacular this past week against the Guardians, as he tossed seven shutout innings and picked up a win in Cleveland. He’ll also likely be a two-start starter this week, although it won’t be easy against the Blue Jays (home) and Boston (road).

JR Ritchie and Payton Tolle, like Martinez, line up as two-start starters this week. Tolle only lasted four innings against the Blue Jays this past week.
