Over the last week, injuries have hit hard across Major League Baseball. For fantasy owners, that means adjustments on the play. So for those who need a jolt, here’s a look at five hitters to consider targeting on the waiver wire as Week 6 of the 2026 fantasy season nears.
Best Week 6 hitters to target
- 2B Travis Bazzana (Guardians)
- C Ryan Jeffers (Twins)
- OF Mickey Moniak (Rockies)
- 3B Isaac Paredes (Astros)
- OF Jorge Soler (Angels)
Two former first-overall picks are on the list, and I’ll start with Travis Bazzana.
Perhaps Bazzana’s best asset, at least in terms of what tools stood out the most from his Minor League days, heading to Cleveland was the discipline. That much was very obvious to those who watched and observed him, as Bazzana routinely worked counts and took pitches out of the zone.
So far, that’s been the M.O. for Bazzana in Cleveland. Six walks in his first five MLB games, and a sub-15% Chase% in his last series against the Athletics. He’s also made good contact, although Bazzana wasn’t rewarded until the 2nd when he picked up his first big-league hit.
There’s a lot of potential here with Bazzana, especially in points leagues where walks can be a very useful asset.
Mickey Moniak, meanwhile, continues to shred baseballs. Moniak had two home runs on May 3, which gave him three on the week. The 27-year-old, who started 2026 on the IL, now has 11 over 107 plate appearances. Don’t expect that pace to continue but the power will play in Colorado.
Isaac Paredes is getting regular playing time and doing well with it. He has hits in 11 of his last 13 contests.
Jeffers, meanwhile, has been a quietly productive hitter, as far as catchers are concerned. The Twins’ backstop had seven hits and five runs scored, plus five RBI over the last week for Minnesota. He’s currently in the top six among catchers in runs scored (17) and RBI (21) this season.
Lastly, we had Soler on our Week 4 list of hitters to consider on the waiver wire. If he’s still available, perhaps reconsider the Angels outfielder. He had a hit in each of his last nine contests as of May 4.
Overview of Week 5
Carlos Cortes is still steaming, as the Athletics outfielder hit .429 with six hits over the last week. As I noted last week, ride with Cortes until he cools down.
The same sentiment could apply to Ildemaro Vargas, who saw his hitting streak end on May 2. That came one day after a four-hit day against the Cubs, as well as two multi-hit performances against the Brewers this past week. Vargas picked up his 10th hit of the week on May 3.
Angel Martinez, Caleb Durbin, and Spencer Torkelson all had quieter weeks. Although Torkelson did hit another home run.
