Two 2026 All-Stars went down due to injury, while another remained out on July 5. Byron Buxton, who just came back from a hip injury, left against the Yankees after a stolen base attempt. Ranger Suarez, meanwhile, also had to depart.

Bad day in The Bronx

Byron Buxton had to leave on July 5, as the Twins outfielder appeared to aggravate the hip injury that kept him out for four games this week. Buxton came out after he was caught stealing in the first inning against the Yankees.

Yankees second baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr., meanwhile, left later on after he gingerly jogged down the first-base line after he hit a fly ball to right field.

He was diagnosed with right toe discomfort.

Updates on Red Sox’s injuries

It’s going to be a while before the Red Sox see Triston Casas. Casas, who’s been out since last May after he tore his right patellar tendon, has been shut down from hitting per the Boston Globe. It’s due to a wrist issue, the second setback Casas suffered this year.

The Red Sox first baseman suffered an abdominal strain earlier this spring.

Meanwhile, 2026 AL All-Star pitcher Ranger Suarez was removed early in his outing against the Angels thanks to left adductor tightness, per the team.

IL move

The Brewers placed pitcher Brandon Woodruff on the 15-day IL with right shoulder inflammation.

Rehab assignments

Mets DH Jorge Polanco went 1-4 with a home run for Triple-A Syracuse.

Astros reliever Bennett Sousa went one scoreless inning for Triple-A Sugar Land. Also for the Astros. Hayden Wesneski struck out three over four innings for Double-A Corpus Christi. Wesneski, who threw 46 pitches, allowed two hits and one walk.

Cubs pitcher Jameson Taillon tossed 45 pitches over 3.1 IP for High-A South Bend. Taillon allowed four hits and struck out two.

Other notes

Rangers third baseman Josh Jung was held out with a sore knee.

Marlins outfielder Jakob Marsee exited on July 5 with a knee contusion.

Shea Langeliers (thumb) was held out on the 5th.
