The hits kept coming for the Blue Jays on the 25th, as Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was out and Dylan Cease landed on the injured list. But in positive news, Cal Raleigh and Francisco Lindor took their first steps forward in recovery from their respective injuries.
Injured players beginning to ramp up
Mets infielder Francisco Lindor started a running program this week, as the shortstop begins to resume baseball activities. Lindor hasn’t played a game since April.
As for Cal Raleigh, he also resumed baseball activities with a pre-game catch, as he works his way back from an oblique injury.
Ragans shut down
Royals manager Matt Quatraro indicated on May 25 that Cole Ragans will be shut down for the next two to three days.
The reason why is that while Ragans pitched well in his last rehab assignment, the elbow didn’t respond particularly well.
IL moves
The big news on the day came from Toronto, as Dylan Cease was placed on the 15-day IL with a left hamstring strain. Cease’s placement came one day after Toronto removed him from his start against the Pirates.
Rockies pitcher Jose Quintana landed on the injured list with a left elbow strain.
Cleveland placed pitcher Erik Sabrowski on the IL with left elbow inflammation.
Rehab assignments
Shane Bieber pitched for the FCL Blue Jays. Bieber struck out three and gave up three hits over two shutout innings on May 25.
Diamondbacks 1B/DH Pavin Smith went 0-4 with a strikeout for the team’s ACL affiliate.
Mariners infielder Miles Mastrobuoni went 0-2 with a walk and a strikeout in the ACL.
Tigers pitcher Ty Madden struck out three over 4.1 IP (70 pitches) for Triple-A Toledo.
