Yankees fans received some clarity on a return date for outfielder Cody Bellinger. As for the Mets, Juan Soto spoke and reiterated his hopes that he can return again & play before the 2026 season concludes.
Soto speaks
Mets outfielder Juan Soto spoke not just about the “frustrating” season that the club has had but also his IL placement. As one would expect, Soto indicated that both he and the club hoped that he would be healthier. Alas, that is not the case.
The good news, at least for now, is that Soto expects to return this season. However, it won’t come until at least deep into August, as he was diagnosed with a Grade 2 calf strain that will keep him out for at least three weeks.
Bellinger done for at least one month
Not the best news for the Yankees on July 27, to say the least.
Manager Aaron Boone indicated that outfielder Cody Bellinger will likely be out for four to six weeks with a Grade 2 left hamstring strain.
Langeliers done for 2026
Athletics catcher Shea Langeliers will undergo surgery to repair his torn meniscus.
It will officially end his 2026 season.
IL moves
The Reds placed infielder/outfielder Spencer Steer on the 10-day IL with a right wrist sprain.
Tigers outfielder Kerry Carpenter was placed on the 10-day IL with plantar fasciitis.
Other notes
Red Sox infielder Curtis Mead left his debut with the club after he was hit by a pitch on his hand.
Giants utilityman Casey Schmitt left on July 27 with a leg injury.
