It’s been a tough year on the injury front for the Blue Jays. Not only has their rotation taken a beat but so has the outfield, as George Springer & Addison Barger are currently on the IL. Now, Nathan Lukes is on the IL, which opened the door for Yohendrick Pinango to join the team in Toronto.

Blue Jays select Pinango

The Toronto Blue Jays selected the contract of outfielder Yohendrick Pinango from Triple-A Buffalo, putting him on the active roster for the first time.

Pinango was acquired several years ago by Toronto from the Cubs for Nate Pearson. The 23-year-old had a great year overall last season, as he posted a .928 OPS with New Hampshire last season before he spent much of 2025 with Buffalo. So far this season, Pinango slashed .288/.370/.488 with three home runs, 10 extra-base hits, and 10 walks over 22 contests.

The 23-year-old walked a lot in the Minors; just last season alone, he had 70 overall over 131 contests. However, he will expand out of the zone often (31.7% Chase%). He swung and missed a lot on four-seam fastballs (33% Whiff%), but, overall, his 24.7% Whiff% was better than the league median.

A chaos hitter — but a successful one in Buffalo.

Nationals bring back Chaparro

The Nationals recalled first baseman Andres Chaparro from Triple-A Rochester.

Chaparro received six at-bats with Washington before he was optioned to Rochester in late March. Since then, he slashed .227/.301/.394 with three home runs and five extra-base hits with the Red Wings.

Washington optioned Riley Cornelio, who made his MLB debut on the 24th after he was recalled for the first time, back to Triple-A.

Other moves

The Orioles optioned Cameron Foster to Triple-A Norfolk, a corresponding move made after Keegan Akin was activated off the injured list.

Drew Romo‘s contract was selected by the Chicago White Sox. Reese McGuire was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.
