The Brewers added some speed to their bench on August 9, as JiHwan Bae was called up to the big-league roster. Texas, meanwhile, added Jonah Bride, who was having a very good season in Triple-A.

Contract selections

The Rangers added infielder Jonah Bride to the active roster on August 9. Bride, who had MLB experience with the Athletics, Marlins, and Twins, slashed .282/.401/.425 with 10 home runs and 30 extra-base hits over 97 contests.

JiHwan Bae, formerly of the Pirates, was called up by the Brewers. Bae spent 2026 with the Mets organization before Milwaukee signed him in early August. He stole 36 bases with Triple-A Syracuse.

Former Astros reliever Seth Martinez was selected by the Red Sox from their Triple-A affiliate. Martinez, who worked in parts of five Major League seasons between the Astros and Marlins, posted a 5.55 ERA over 33 games with Worcester.

The Mets selected pitcher Jack Weisenburger from Triple-A Syracuse. Weisenburger, who was working as a starter in the club’s Triple-A affiliate, made his MLB debut on the 9th of August, seven years after he was originally drafted and signed out of college by the Athletics in the 20th round.

Recalls & options

Jake Bird (Nationals), Michael Grove (Rays), and Alan Rangel (Phillies) were recalled from Triple-A.

Xzavion Curry (Mets), Carson Palmquist (Nationals), Raymond Burgos (Red Sox), Chase Shugart (Phillies), Alejandro Osuna (Rangers), Ethan Roberts (Cubs), and Brett Kerry (Angels) were optioned to the Minors.

Other notes

The White Sox signed Joey Wiemer to a Minor League deal. Wiemer, assigned to Triple-A, was released by the Nationals this past week.

Brewers pitcher Drew Rom was designated for assignment.

The Angels activated reliever Ryan Watson, who was claimed off waivers from the Red Sox earlier this week.
