A week after Jorge Soler was suspended for seven games by Major League Baseball, his reduced suspension began on April 15. It was one of several notable transactions on the day. Martin Perez re-signed with the Braves, while the Rangers added two arms to the 40-man roster.

Braves re-sign Perez

The Braves announced that left-hander Martin Perez re-signed with the team on a Minor League deal.

Perez had previously been outrighted off the Braves’ 40-man roster. He elected free agency and ultimately re-joined the franchise.

Rangers select two

The Rangers selected pitchers Gavin Collyer and Cal Quantrill from Triple-A Round Rock.

Quantrill, a veteran of the Major Leagues, is back after he started 2026 in the Rangers’ Minor League system. He gave up one home run across three starts in the PCL, an accomplishment given how hitter-friendly the circuit plays. He struck out 13 over 14 innings.

Collyer, meanwhile, will look to make his MLB debut after a strong run in Double-A last season and a strong start to 2026. The right-hander had a swing-and-miss rate of 30% last season in the Texas League. Thus far, he punched out 11 over six frames in Triple-A.

DFA’s

Orioles pitcher Jayvien Sandridge was DFA’d by the team.

The White Sox designated outfielder Dustin Harris for assignment.

Recalls & options

Will Brennan (Giants), Drew Gilbert (Giants), Spencer Arrighetti (Astros), Angel Chivilli (Yankees), MJ Melendez (Mets), and Kyle Backhus (Phillies) were recalled from Triple-A.

Nick Raquet (Orioles), Brandon Eisert (White Sox), and Yerry De Los Santos (Yankees) were optioned to Triple-A.

Other notes

Orioles catcher Sam Huff had his contract selected from Triple-A.

Braves infielder Luke Williams was sent outright to Triple-A.

Jorge Soler officially began serving his suspension for a bench-clearing brawl he helped provoke last week against the Braves. His suspension was reduced to four games.
