Two months after Curtis Mead suffered a wrist injury, the Red Sox put him back on the active roster to replace another injured player. That was the big move made on September 30, which also saw the Orioles sign a pitcher who played in the Mexican League this year.

Mead active for Wild Card Round

The Red Sox activated Curtis Mead for the AL Wild Card Round.

Mead suffered a fractured wrist in his first game with the Red Sox back in late July. Boston acquired him for Connelly Early in the summer in a one-for-one swap.

He replaces Roman Anthony, who was removed from the roster due to injury on the 30th.

Orioles sign ex-Blue Jay Rees

The Orioles signed pitcher Jackson Rees to a Minor League deal.

Rees last pitched in affiliated baseball back in 2023 with Toronto, most of which was with Triple-A. That season, Rees walked 26 over 21 innings and struck out 30 between Triple-A and the FCL. He was ultimately released by the Jays in 2024.

He struck out 26 over 24 with Tecos de los Dos Laredo in the Mexican League this past year.

Other notes

The Diamondbacks outrighted Jesús Sánchez to Triple-A Reno.

Cubs pitcher Antwone Kelly was outrighted to Triple-A Iowa.

The Braves sent Ricky Vanasco and Elieser Hernandez outright to Triple-A Gwinnett. Both were designated for assignment on the 29th. Hernandez elected free agency.

Mets pitcher Kevin Herget elected free agency.
