Over the last week, the Mets have shuffled around the bench, as New York let go of Tommy Pham and signed Austin Slater. Before the start of the series, the Mets activated their latest acquisition, Andy Ibanez. Meanwhile, a former Met, Zack Short, is back with the Detroit Tigers.

Short traded for by Tigers

The Tigers acquired Zack Short from the Nationals in a trade. Detroit sent cash to Washington to complete the trade.

Short started his MLB career with the Tigers, where he played between 2021 and 2023. He slashed .200/.292/.291 with the Rochester Red Wings before the move.

Mets make moves

The Mets activated Andy Ibanez on May 1. Ibanez was claimed off waivers from the Athletics on the 30th. Eric Wagaman was optioned to Triple-A to make space for Ibanez.

Ibanez only hit .118 in limited time with the Athletics. However, the veteran infielder has been a good platoon bat against left-handed pitchers in his career.
