USA Baseball’s Midseason Watch List includes many expected names, including likely 2025 top-5 pick Jace LaViolette, Drew Burress, and Alabama standout Justin LeBron. LeBron has been a key cog for the Crimson Tide, currently in the top-10 of Division I. His 90 total bases are 10th-most in Division I.
Likely 2025 Day 1 picks Ethan Petry, Marek Houston, and Cam Cannarella, all of whom were on the preseason list, are here, as well.
The updated list includes newcomer pitchers Liam Doyle (Tennessee), Trey Beard (FAU), Patrick Forbes (Louisville), and Kade Anderson (LSU), all of whom are in the top-eight of Division IN in total strikeouts. Doyle leads the way with 73 strikeouts over 36.2 IP.
But perhaps the most notable breakout performer of the three is Beard, the FAU pitcher who showcased a funky changeup last year and pitched well as a freshman. This year, Beard has 66 strikeouts over 38.1 IP.
USA Baseball also included two high schoolers, Seth Hernandez and Ethan Holliday. Both are considered first-round talents in 2025, with Holliday being on the shortlist to go #1 this July to the Nationals.
However, two notable additions on the list are Kyle Lodise (Georgia Tech) and Alex Lodise (Florida State). Alex leads Division I in total bases (101), while Kyle is third with 96.
The semifinalist announcement is scheduled for May 18. USA Baseball stated that a fan vote will help determine both the finalists and the winner, which will be announced in late June.
