On April 4, Sony San Diego released the first of several April Spotlight Drops for MLB The Show 25. These Drops included Spotlight Series cards that, once May came, helped Diamond Dynasty players unlock the new Lightning card: a 92 OVR Corbin Carroll. Here’s how to unlock the Lightning card(s) for April 2025.

92 OVR Carroll & Santana Collections
There are two Spotlight Collections available: the traditional Lightning award given out monthly in past MLB The Show games (sans 24) and a Retro Lightning. The Retro Lightning returns, as it comes back from MLB The Show 22.
The Lightning for April 25 is a 92 OVR Corbin Carroll.
And, the Retro Lightning is a 92 OVR Carlos Santana.
These two Collections became available on May 6. Here are the requirements:
- Lightning: Get five Spotlight Series cards from Drop programs. Those cards are 91 OVR Wyatt Langford, 89 OVR Rhys Hoskins, 89 OVR Kyren Paris, 88 OVR Jordan Westburg, and 88 OVR Trent Grisham.
- Retro Lightning: Get 13 Spotlight Series cards from Drop packs and/or Marketplace.

This format is very similar to how Sony San Diego did season-themed content drops in MLB The Show 24. At the end of the program is a Spotlight Series card, replacing the Season Awards.
And, Sony added a Drop 1 pack that includes a random chance of getting either one Topps Now or Spotlight Series card. However, for 25, the content within the pack is from the same week of content & is sellable.

The Missions can be done in any single-player or online mode. Note that the Topps Now PXP Mission is for only Drop 1 players, like Misner, Gore, and the three cards in packs. Flashbacks found in other areas of the game are not eligible.
