Much of the actual title update was focused on smaller bug fixes, including errors where team logos were not being shown in single-player Diamond Dynasty, as well as a win/loss exploit.
Additionally, Sony added the Rangers’ and Pirates’ new City Connect jerseys after the first six were introduced in the game earlier in the month.
However, the real meat of this update was in the developer notes.
Developer notes
The first one involved a change to how the strike zone is constructed in Diamond Dynasty. Before the update, the strike zone worked in a way where balls would be called strikes if at least half of the baseball was in the zone.
Moving forward, Sony indicated that any ball that touches the strike zone will be called a strike, in line with how these are called in real life. No ABS challenges will be made available in Diamond Dynasty. Lastly, the visual strike zone will look slightly smaller. Thus, balls that were called balls before will still be balls, and the same with strikes.
Second, PCI shrinkage was addressed. As we noted in our review of MLB The Show 26, shrinakge was still in the game despite Sony’s declaration that it would be removed from the game. The development team offered a clarification on said declaration.
The MLB The Show 26 development team indicated that before ’26, hitters were penalized on breaking balls down in the zone and away from the hitter. Now, only one penalty will be applied, not both.
It will remain a part of the game.
Lastly, Sony issued another brief statement on cheating within the game. The developers stated that it is monitoring game activities and are committed to fair gameplay. Sony also noted that it wants community reports to continue the process of addressing it.
This update will go live on April 30 at 7 AM ET for all consoles.
