South Carolina and Alabama fell out.
The Volunteers remain in the top spot after sweeping South Carolina this past weekend. Tennesse’s best hitters showed up for that series, as Christian Moore hit three home runs over the first two games of the series, while Blake Burke drove in six over the three-game set.
Tennesse is in the top spot of the 2024 SEC Tournament, which starts on May 21 in Hoover, Alabama. The Volunteers, along with Kentucky (#2), Alabama (#3), and Texas A&M (#4), all received a first-round bye and will start their run on May 22.
Meanwhile, in the ACC, the Clemson Tigers finished the regular season with the best ranking in the Coaches poll after a sweep of Boston College in their final series. Cam Cannarella, a name to watch for the 2025 MLB Draft, recorded a home run and five hits during the Tigers’ sweep of the Eagles.
Clemson, though, will not enter this week’s upcoming ACC Tournament with the #1 seed. That honor will go to North Carolina. UNC will be paired with Wake Forest and Pittsburgh in what should be a highly competitive pool, with two of the top teams in the nation in it. Clemson is paired with Louisville and Miami (FL).
The majority of tournaments will begin this week, with NCAA Regionals groups set to be announced on May 27. The 2024 College World Series is scheduled to begin on June 14.
