Aside from 2020, Major League Baseball has played a game at Bowman Field in Williamsport, Pennsylvania every season since 2017 to celebrate the Little League World Series. MLB confirmed in August 2023 that the event would return in 2024. Here’s a look at the date of the contest, plus the two teams that will play in the game.

When is the 2024 MLB Little League Classic?
The 2024 MLB Little League will be held on August 18, 2024.
This will be the latest installment of the Little League Classic, which began in 2017 with a matchup between the Pittsburgh Pirates and St. Louis Cardinals.
ESPN will air the game as part of Sunday Night Baseball.
Which teams will participate?
MLB confirmed that the New York Yankees and the Detroit Tigers will be the two participants. Detroit will host the affair.
The game will give the Yankees, headlined by Aaron Judge and Gerrit Cole, their first opportunity to participate in the Little League Classic. The Bronx Bombers’ cross-town rivals, the New York Mets, played in the event in 2018.
The Tigers, meanwhile, will be the second AL Central team to play in the Classic. Cleveland played the Los Angeles Angels in 2021.
The game may also serve as a homecoming of sorts for two Tigers in Nick Maton and Matt Vierling — assuming the two will be with Detroit next season. Both Maton and Vierling, acquired by Detroit in the Gregory Soto trade, played at Bowman Field with the Williamsport Crosscutters in the now-defunct New York-Penn League.
The 2023 Little League Classic featured the Philadelphia Phillies and Washington Nationals.
