Major League Baseball (MLB) has made it a priority to expand its reach beyond North America, and it’s begun to accomplish that goal by contesting regular season games outside of the continent. MLB held two games in Great Britain back in 2019 and saw two more contests take place in 2023. In 2024, the league will send two NL East rivals across the pond to showcase the game in England once more for what’s become the annual MLB London Series.

When is the 2024 MLB London Series?

The 2024 MLB London Series will take place on June 8-9. Games will be contested at London Stadium.

Which teams will participate?

A report from Sports Illustrated on May 9 indicated that MLB planned to pit the Mets against the Phillies in London. MLB confirmed this news on June 23, just before the 2023 MLB London Series. New York and Philadelphia will play a two-game set next season from June 8-9.

Each team will host one game in the series.

This won’t be the first time that the Mets will play outside of North America, as the Amazins’ played a series of games against the Chicago Cubs in Tokyo during the 2000 season.

Those games were the first regular season MLB games to be contested in Japan. As for the Phillies, this will be its first time playing a regular season game away from North America.

The series will be yet another opportunity to market two big-market teams, and names like Trea Turner, Bryce Harper, Pete Alonso, and Francisco Lindor. And, it will come a year after the Cubs and Cardinals take the stage in London.

This will reportedly be one of multiple series that will take place outside of the U.S. and Canada in 2024. The Dodgers and Padres will play in South Korea next March, while the Astros and Rockies are headed to Mexico City.
